Whelp in yesterday's snarkfest, I pointed out that it looked like we
might actually be getting somewhere with the whole Shutdown/Debt
Ceiling disaster currently running rampant in the US. Both Obama and
Boehner seemed to be signaling that some form of negotiations might
be taking place that would stop this Kindergarten Slugfest going on
amongst our so-called leaders. Well, relax citizens, it was purely a
false alarm and things are basically back to square -5. Whew, that
was a close call wasn't it?
See what happened was three different polls came out with a fact that
anyone who had more than three brain cells to rub together already
knew. The American People (and China our beloved overlords) are
basically peeved off at this circus going on in DC and are really
honked off at the people causing it. Both sides took a pounding in
the polls, but the GOP made off much worse overall that the Dems did.
Apparently the fact that the Reboobicans made off slightly worse than
the Damnocrats in one poll and really worse off in the two others
caused the WH to have a massive case of Backsies. Never mind that
the polls showed that the US was peeved off at both parties, because
the Boobs were more hated than the Dims, things were all hunky dorry.
Suddenly the POTUS and his flunkies are back to the “We will not
negotiate with Economic Terrorists” rant and now everyone is back
to scrambling to try and find some solution that both parties might
be willing to swallow to keep the US government from going into
default.
(As an aside here, I personally find all of the Boobs who are
claiming that a Default won't happen if the Debt Ceiling isn't raised
absolutely adorable and the ones who claim that okay a Default can
happen, but maybe it won't be as bad as people think even more so.
Got news for you folks. All of the techniques being bandied about as
ways to stop the default like “prioritizing our payments” are
used in another type of economic situation. It is called Bankruptcy!
Anyway, moving on.)
I have supported neither side in this mess since day one and still
think both sides are a bunch of idiots. I admit to ragging on the
Boobs a wee bit more because their whole attitude of “We won't
negotiate until you repeal/defund the ACA” more than a little
stupid because anyone in their right minds knows that if positions
were reverse and the Dims were demanding the Boobs do the same sort
of thing, the Boobs would be peeved as Hell. The Boobs couldn't get
what they wanted so they resorted to the equivalent of holding their
breath till they turned blue. This does not mean I don't find the
Dims almost equably responsible. The past two weeks should give a
clear indication to anyone that our elected Leaders could care less
about the American People.
However, while I do find it incredibly predictable, I find the WH's
current move annoying as heck. The situation hasn't changed since
yesterday, but since you are suddenly looking marginally better to
the American People, you backpedal. It is high time the
pre-schoolers running our nation stop kicking sand at each other and
play nice. We the people are the ones suffering, but they well and
truly don't give a flying fugg.
