Why can't they just get along?

So my wonderful wife is always on the lookout for items and tidbits that she thinks would make good rant for me. You have her to thank for the rants on over priced drones, wobbly ships and unwanted tanks btw. She has an amazing talent for finding stories that just really honky my horns and I am so appreciative of that since there are days where nothing has really peeved me off and I am always in the need of rant materials. Recently she sent me a link on a new bit of insanity being performed by our elected officials in DC. (Hey just realized that DC also stands for Disconnect in online jargon. Doesn't that sound like the best description ever for what is going on with our Government?)

Interestingly enough, the exact subject of the article she sent me isn't really important. It was about a piece of legislation being bandied about right now that, like most such things, has some very good points and some very bad points. Now what really boiled me was how it illustrates just how Dysfunctional our current Ruling Body is.

So this thing (Lets call it Bill X) is currently being promoted by one party as the best thing since pre-sliced cheese and is being opposed by another party as being a sign of the coming Alpacalypse. Side one is pushing hard to get it passed and Side 2 is doing everything they can to kill it before it can breed. The kicker to this situation is that the exact same Bill X was put forth by Side 2 just a short time ago and Side one was the one opposing it with maximum force.

WTF, Peeples! Why is Side 2 opposing the very thing they were supporting just a short time ago? I have read through both versions of Bill X and except for minor changes in wording, they are pretty much identical. All of the goodies that 2 was for are still there, so why fight like demons to keep it from passing?

Course we saw the same thing back during the whole National Health Care debacle. Reboobicans have been putting forth various versions of the Affordable Care Act for a lonnnnnnnnnnng time, including several versions that look eerily like Obama's Grand Plan. In many cases, they were railing against provisions that ran rampant through their own versions. Why did they oppose something that they were originally all gung ho fo?

The answer shows just how fugged up our so called government is. If one side likes something or agrees on something, the other side will rise up and oppose it with harsh words and wild hand gestures. Doesn't matter if it is actually a good idea. Doesn't matter if it was something that they were all for when they were in power. All that matters is opposing what the other side says. If Damnocrats come out and say, “Man needs water to survive” then Reboobicans will scream against the evils of Dihydrogen Oxides (Not going to explain this joke but here is a great link. http://www.dhmo.org/facts.html ) and the reverse holds true.

How can we possibly hope to fix the multitude of problems facing this country when our Rulers are involved in a never ending game of “IS NOT! IS TOO!”? We are faced with issues ranging from rampant poverty to the death of bees, but I truly believe that if our leaders could just learn to work together, we could easily fix them. The only problem is that they won't. Until something radical happens to change the way our government functions, these old geezers will continue to act like 5 year olds on the playground swings.
